This is the first time a college student has been invited to the APR board. Its advisers include some of the nation's leading writers: John Ashbery, Rita Dove, Daniel Hoffman, Galway Kinnell, Philip Roth, Joyce Carol Oates, and Cynthia Ozick. The American Poetry Review is dedicated to reaching a worldwide audience with a diverse array of the best contemporary poetry and literary prose. Newman is co-captain of the Women's Rugby team at Penn.
